Oak Island has attracted treasure hunters for centuries and we are lucky to have photographs from the last hundred years or so to see how people worked, the machinery they used and the characters involved. We take for granted how easy it is to take photographs on our phones these days, so do enjoy these few, often reproduced images which are all we have to imagine what life must have been like working on Oak Island at the start of the twentieth century.
